The Bible says in Acts 1:8, "But
ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:
and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all
Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
This commission is the duty of every New Testament church to
fulfill. Fellowship Baptist Church has an extensive
soul-winning program to
reach our
Jerusalem, and conferences and revivals to help reach our Judaea and
our Samaria. However, there is only one way that the church
can take the Gospel around the world while it serves the people of a
local area. That way is through financially supporting
missionaries who give of their life to bring the Gospel to the
uttermost for us.
In 1995, FBC held its first
annual missions conference. It was then that the church
caught Preacher's burden to help reach the world for Christ.
It was then that FBC adopted the "Faith Promise" method for giving
to missions. After that first conference, the church pledged
to give $400 per week to foreign missions. Previously, FBC supported only a few missionaries.
Over the last eleven years,
Fellowship's faith promise giving has increased each and every year.
In November of 2005, the members pledged to give over $3,800 per
week to foreign missions. The number of missionaries has grown
to 125.
The highlight of the annual
missions conference is "Missionary Christmas." The members
of the church host the visiting missionary families. The
families come before the church in a Christmas setting and are truly
"spoiled." The deserving families, which usually spend
Christmas on deputation, are always taken back by the love and
attention shown by the church. With the help of the Lydia
Ladies and other ministries of the church, FBC raises thousands of
dollars throughout the year for this annual event.
Through the ministry of
missions support, Fellowship Baptist Church is literally
taking the Gospel around the world.
