Several years ago, God began to burden Pastor Finley with the need to provide further Bible training for the membership of our church. The Great Commission includes the command to teach. From that burden, Heritage Baptist Institute was started in 2002. As our church grows, so grows the need for us to teach and train others.

The purpose of our institute is not to replace the need for many of our people to go to a four-year Christian college and prepare for full-time Christian service. HBI does, however, allow us to train those in our church who have a desire to be more effective in their service for the Lord through the ministries of Fellowship Baptist Church. Our goal is “the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”

Heritage Baptist Institute offers four different courses of study, in which students may earn a two-year Associates diploma. Courses of study include Pastoral Studies, General Studies, Education and Teaching Studies, and Business Studies. While there are members of our church who are pursuing a diploma, there are many others who take classes each semester for their own benefit, and for the practical knowledge they will gain and use to help others in the ministry.
